EMDR Therapy for Trauma and PTSD
Helping You Move Forward When the Past Still Feels Present
Sometimes difficult experiences can stay with us long after they have happened.
You may find yourself constantly thinking about what happened, feeling on edge, avoiding certain situations, struggling to switch off, or feeling as though the past is still affecting your life today.
Trauma can affect anyone. It may be linked to a single event, a series of difficult experiences, childhood experiences, loss, workplace incidents, military service, emergency service work, relationship difficulties or times in your life that felt overwhelming.
EMDR can help people process these experiences so they no longer feel quite so present in everyday life.
What is EMDR?
EMDR stands for Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing.
It is a therapy that helps the brain process difficult experiences that may not have been fully processed at the time they happened. When this happens, memories, emotions, thoughts and physical sensations can remain "stuck", continuing to affect us long after the event has passed.
EMDR helps the brain reprocess these experiences, allowing them to become less distressing and easier to manage.

My Approach
I know that talking about trauma can feel daunting.
Many of the people I work with have spent years trying to cope on their own. Some have become used to pushing things aside, staying busy or focusing on everyone else's needs. Others have never had the opportunity to make sense of what happened to them.
As an Accredited BACP Counsellor, and through my work supporting NHS staff, I have extensive experience working with trauma and the impact it can have on everyday life.
My approach is warm, compassionate and supportive. We will work at a pace that feels comfortable for you, and there is never any pressure to share more than you feel ready to.
For me, EMDR isn't about forcing people to relive painful experiences. It's about helping them feel less overwhelmed by them.
Online EMDR Therapy Across the UK
I offer EMDR therapy online across the UK.
Many people appreciate being able to access therapy from the comfort of their own home, particularly when balancing work, family life and other commitments.
You Don't Have To Keep Carrying It Alone
Whatever has brought you here, you don't have to face it on your own.
Healing doesn't mean forgetting what happened. It means finding a way for the past to take up less space in your present life.
If you would like to find out more about EMDR therapy, please get in touch. I'd be happy to answer any questions you may have.
